Rudolph Pretzels

Here's another fun pretzel idea, for the Holidays. I was inspired, to make this design, after making the Snowman Pretzel. I think it's adorable, and I love the chocolate and peanut butter combination.

The hardest part, of this project, is sorting the ingredients. After that, the fun begins! Feel free to mix things up. Look for interesting candies to use for the buttons, or eyes. Maybe you can find another option, for the scarf. Your creativity knows no bounds! If you make these, share in the comments.

RUDOLPH PRETZELS

Ingredients:
1 Large pretzel rod - body
1 Large thin pretzel - antlers *
2 Mini chocolate morsels - eyes
1 Red peanut M & M, gum drip, or peanut butter M & M - nose
1 Strand Twizzlers Pull 'N Peel Candy, or Air Head candy - scarf
3 M & Ms, Skittles, or Sixlets - buttons
1 (12 ounce) Bag semi sweet chocolate chips
2 Tablespoons crisco
1 (12 ounce) Bag peanut butter morsels
2 Tablespoons Crisco

Directions:
Sort candy, and pretzels, in small bowls. Line 2 (9 X 13") baking tray with parchment paper. To prepare chocolate coating: Work in two batches. Heat half of the chocolate chips, and 1 tablespoon crisco, in a pint mason jar; at 15 second intervals; stirring well. When chips are half way melted, don't heat anymore. Keep stirring until completely smooth. Dip pretzels, 3/4 way, into chocolate dip. Shake excess. Place on parchment lined baking tray. Refrigerate to firm. To make peanut butter coating: Work in two batches. Heat half half of the peanut butter chips, and 1 tablespoon crisco, in a pint mason jar; at 15 second intervals; stirring well. When chips are half way melted, don't heat anymore. Keep stirring until completely smooth. Using the second 9 X 13" parchment lined baking tray; place a row of 4 thin pretzels, at the top of the tray. Place a row of 4 broken thin pretzels pieces, for the bottom row. The broken pretzel pieces are to keep the pretzel rod level, until the peanut butter hardens. Lay the scarf, so it sits under the antler. Dip the chocolate coated pretzel rod into the peanut butter coating. Shake off excess coating. Lay pretzel rod, vertically, from the top of the classic pretzel. Tie the twizzler, around the pretzel rod, to form a scarf. Attach the mini chocolate morsels, for the eyes. Place a red Peanut M & M, to make the nose. Add 3 M & Ms, under the scarf, to make the buttons. Refrigerate, a few minutes, until the peanut butter coating hardens.

* The Large pretzel thins, for the antlers, are getting harder to find. You want large pretzels, not the mini. I found the large thin pretzels, at Smart & Final this year.

If you can’t find the large thin pretzels. Work with 2 mini pretzels, held together with the peanut butter coating, the proceed.
